Soap~A Night of Nights

SOAP

Scripture~

But Mary was treasuring up all these things in her heart and meditating on them. ~Luke 2:19

Observation~

Instead of getting caught up in the busyness of everything going on around her (all the shephards coming to meed Jesus, the stress of learning to breastfeed, the animals and their smells), she treasured the moment. She kept it in her heart and thought deep about the blessings she had received.

Application~

I need to take a step back, get still with God for a moment, and meditate on all the gifts He has given me, especially when life gets crazy and I feel like I just might loose it. All these seemingly little things God does for me daily are treasures for my heart, tiny gifts from The One who gave it ALL for me. If I am thankful for these gifts, meditate on these gifts, store these gifts in my heart, then I can open up my treasure chest when things seem rough and I will be reminded of the goodness and love of God. That love is what I need to keep going.

Prayer~

Sweet Jesus, how I love you. Thank you Lord for Mary. Thank you for sending your son. Thank you for the innumerable blessings you give each day. Help me to see these treasures as such. I don't want to miss seeing you because I am focusing too much on what I consider to be bad. Help me see you and your love in everything. I know you are in every situation. If I look purposefully I will find you. Thank you for all these blessings to treasure in my heart.

Soap~Don't Be Foolish

SOAP

Scripture~

Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. ~Ephesians 5:17

Observation~

Don't be an idiot. Read the bible so I will know what the Lord wants of me.

Application~

The more Bible I have in my heart the better I will understand God's will for my life. If I regularly feed on the Word then roots will take hold and I will naturally make less foolish decisions. Time in the Word, reading, praying, and memorizing, is the only way to really know how God wants me to act and what e wants me to do. The more truth I have planted in my heart the better. Then I will be able to quickly make wise decisions according to God's will.

Prayer~

Thank you Lord for your Word. Thank you for your perfect will for my life. Thank you for providing me with the tools I need to not be a fool but to make wise decisions according to your will. Please help me make time to study and memorize your word. Please guide me to the exact verses I need right now so I can make the right choices for my day and week. help me see what areas I've been foolish in and help me improve. I want to do what's right. I want to do your will. I need your help. Thank you Lord that I can come boldly to you and ask for help. I ask all these things in Jesus' precious name. Amen.

Has God shared anything with your heart lately?  Please share!

Soap~Because You Say So

SOAP

Scripture~

Simon answered, "Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything.  But because you say so, I will let down the nets." ~Luke 5:5

Observation~

In Simon's mind he had done everything he could do to catch fish and nothing had worked.  In his mind the fish just weren't there.  In his mind it didn't make sense to drop the nets again.  He had fished all night.  He had brought in his nets, paddled to shore, cleaned his nets, then even rowed Jesus out a little ways and listened to a sermon.  He was tired.  I'm sure he just wanted to hop on his donkey and go home.  But no.  Even though it made no sense in the natural to throw the nets out again, he did it, just because Jesus said so.

Application~

How many things in my life would go differently if I just listened to Jesus?  What would happen to my life if I read the Bible and applied it just because Jesus said so?  I need to get into a better habit of seeking the Lord first.  I could save myself a lot of trouble if I just did things His way first.

Prayer~

Sweet Jesus, thank you for your Word.  Thank you for this simple, much needed lesson.  Father please help me hear you.  Open my ears to hear and my eyes to see your will for my life.  Help me to know for sure when it's your voice instructing me so I can step out in faith and do what you have called me to do.  I love you.  In Jesus Name, Amen!
